Drawing Club is committed to making workshops as welcoming and accessible as possible. If you have any access requirements or would like to discuss how a workshop can best support you, I'd love to hear from you before booking.

What’s it like?

Each workshop event page will specifically outline the anticipated environment of the workshop you’re booking for. Any questions or concerns in advance of the session, email us directly - info@drawingclub.org.uk

Group size

Group sizes range from 10 – 30 people.

We average around 20 per workshop.

Environment

We usually work in spaces with natural or ambient, warm and gentle light.

We aim to sit everyone at a table, but sometimes with venue limitations we’ll use drawing boards.

Breaks

If you feel like you need to take a break at anytime, please do. If the workshops are longer than an hour we will have a short break between 40-50 minutes into the session.

Noise Levels

We play music in the background during the sessions, usually a relaxed playlist with a wind-down energy. Drawing Club also feels like a sociable space so often people chatting and laughing with the people around them - like being in a cafe.

Pace

The workshops can be quite fast paced with quick timed exercises, or sometimes we have light-touch gently guided sessions with an activity set out from the beginning and you can set the pace. Each workshop event page will specifically outline the pace of the workshop you’re booking for.

Sharing

You won’t have to share your work if you’d prefer not to. Sometimes we do collaborative drawings in the session where you might do a section and pass it on, we do usually look at these at the end but no one will be asked to identify who did what.

Old Fire Station

Oxford, City Centre

The Old Fire Station encourages people from all backgrounds to understand and shape the world in which we live through stories, creativity and the arts, and by connecting with others. They share our ethos that Art is for everyone.

No parking at the venue.

Step-free entrance to the Old Fire Station: 40 George Street (via the foyer).

Accessible toilet on the ground floor, accessible via platform lift. Other toilets are in the basement (accessible via lift).

Assistance dogs - All types of assistance dogs are welcome at the Old Fire Station.

Seating - Their chairs are a standard dining-chair size, measuring 40cm deep by 37cm wide, with a wooden frame. Some have arms, and some do not. Each attendee can sit at a table during the workshop.

Lighting - Warm and mellow lighting.

The Nest

Oxford, 33-35 Little Clarendon St, Oxford OX1 2HU

Oxford’s first independent, inclusive music space centring young women, trans and non-binary people. The Nest is a safe, inclusive hub for people to make music, grow and connect.

No parking at the venue.

Step-free entrance to The Nest.

Access to the toilet is step-free, but not accessible by wheelchair due to building restraints. The nearest disabled toilet accessible to The Nest visitors is The Oxford Wine Cafe on Little Clarendon Street.

Assistance animals are welcome.

Seating - Generally round stalls provided. If you need a chair with a backrest, we can provide this.

Lighting - Is adjustable in cases where more or less light may be helpful.

Worton Kitchen Garden

Near Cassington, North Oxfordshire

A seasonal, hyper-local restaurant designed to highlight the delicious produce from their farm and key local suppliers.

Free parking at the venue.

Step-free entrance. The path from the car park to the glasshouse is gravel.

Accessible step-free toilet.

Assistance dogs - All types of assistance and guide dogs are welcome.

Seating - Chairs are a collapsable dining-chair size, wooden seat, with a metal frame. Everyone can sit at a table during the workshop.

Lighting - Natural light. For darker evenings, there are four overhead lamps and fairy lights.

Modern Art Oxford

Oxford, City Centre

Modern Art Oxford is a leading UK contemporary art space with an international reputation for inspirational and innovative programmes.

No parking at the venue.

Step-free entrance via the St Ebbe’s Street Entrance which is at street level, a platform lift is available at the Pembroke Street entrance. Our passenger lift can access all floors.

Accessible step-free toilet in the basement via a lift.

Assistance dogs - Guide dogs, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome.

Seating - Chairs with backrest and stools are provided.

Lighting - Ambient, warm overhead lights.
